Collection: Ewan David Eason

Since 2010, London-based artist Ewan David Eason has created abstract works rooted in close observation of the natural and built environment. His practice draws particular inspiration from the visual language of cartography — topographies, boundary lines, and the layered systems through which we map and interpret the world.

Eason’s compositions translate organic and man-made patterns into intricate abstract forms. River systems, coastlines, road networks, and structural grids are reimagined through a process that balances precision with intuition. The resulting works sit between landscape and abstraction, inviting viewers to reconsider how we see and value the spaces we inhabit.

A distinctive element of his practice is the use of precious metals and carefully considered complementary colour palettes. Through gilding and luminous surface treatments, Eason emphasises the sacredness and diversity of living landscapes. The reflective qualities of gold and metallic leaf elevate the imagery beyond documentation, encouraging contemplation and a renewed awareness of place.
