Collection: Niki Hare

Niki Hare is a self-taught British visual artist born in Bristol in 1971, who now lives and works in Gloucestershire. Her work explores ideas of existence, vision and perception, often blending text and image to create what she calls “word paintings.” Hare’s process involves layering paint, collage, and other materials, then scraping back or reworking surfaces to reveal textures, hidden passages, and multiple visual and emotional dimensions.

Her art is characterised by a sense of impermanence — nothing is static; edges blur between what is present, what is absent, and what might be. Inspired by everyday thoughts, observations and the spaces between, she uses her canvas as a diary, transforming personal experience into visual poetry.

After spending twenty years working outside the mainstream art world—largely in equestrian pursuits—Hare began making art full‑time. Her work has since attracted international interest and been shown across the globe.
