Tracey Emin

Tracey Emin is one of Britain’s most influential contemporary artists, internationally recognized for her raw, confessional, and deeply autobiographical work. Born in 1963 in Croydon, England, and raised in Margate, Emin emerged in the 1990s as a leading figure among the Young British Artists (YBAs), a generation known for challenging conventions and reshaping contemporary art.

Working across a wide range of media—including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, neon text, film, and textiles—Emin’s art explores themes of love, sexuality, trauma, vulnerability, and identity. Her practice is rooted in personal experience, marked by emotional honesty and an unflinching willingness to confront both pain and intimacy.
