About Darren Baker | Art Collection

Darren Baker has become one of the UK’s most well known & collectable artists of the 21st century.

A perfectionist who has, for most of his life, been developing techniques to create a  form of realism comparable to photography.

In 2011 Darren Baker was received a letter from Buckingham Palace inviting the hyper realism artist to become the official portrait artist to Her Majesty The Queen. Armed with sketch books, pencils and paint brushes Darren headed off to the palace for several sittings with Queen Elizabeth II to create a wonderful portrait of our head of state. The portrait was unveiled at a commemorative service in Westminster Abbey in Autumn 2011 by Princess Anne.

Studio 74 gallery in Bristol will be exhibiting the two original studies with evidence showing a photo of the Queen sitting in the great room whilst Darren sketched her portrait. On view over the Coronation Weekend 6th to 8th May.
