About the Artist:

Mr Brainwash, born Thierry Guetta in 1966 in Garges-lès-Gonesse, France, is a prominent figure in the street art scene. Mr Brainwash grew up in a family of immigrants, and spent much of his childhood helping out his parents with running their family grocery store. However, his true passion was always art. As a teenager, he would spend hours creating graffiti and stencils on the streets of Paris.

In the late 1990s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he began documenting the work of street artists, including Banksy. Despite starting as a videographer and street art documentarian, Mr Brainwash's true aspiration was to become an artist himself.

Art Style:

Mr Brainwash's art style is characterized by its bold and vibrant aesthetic, heavily influenced by pop art and iconic cultural figures. Drawing inspiration from artists like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, he often juxtaposes contemporary icons and themes, incorporating popular imagery borrowed from other famous artists. His work frequently features recognizable figures such as Marilyn Monroe and Mickey Mouse, infused with elements of street art using stencils and spray paint. With a touch of satire and humor, Mr Brainwash's art serves as a commentary on consumerism and the cult of celebrity, making it accessible to a wide audience.

Achievements:

Mr Brainwash's rise to fame was propelled by his debut solo exhibition, "Life is Beautiful," held in Los Angeles in 2008. The show garnered widespread acclaim, attracting over 50,000 attendees and fetching high prices for his artworks. Since then, he has become one of the most sought-after artists on the global pop art scene, with collectors including celebrities like Madonna and the Biebers. His major auction debut in 2010 at Phillips saw his artwork "Charlie Chaplin Pink" sell for $122,500, marking a significant milestone in his career. With auction sales nearing $2.5 million, Mr Brainwash's meteoric rise has solidified his place among the world's top artists, leaving an indelible mark on the art world and challenging traditional notions of fine art.

His debut exhibition Life is Beautiful (2008) had sales of five figures for single works and received praise from British street artist Banksy. The following year, Madonna commissioned Mr. Brainwash to design the cover for her album Celebration. His major auction debut occurred at Philips in 2010 where Charlie Chaplin Pink sold for $122,500, from an upper estimate of $70,000.
